Holidays in the South

The three of us went down to West Palm for the weekend after Christmas. It was a good South Florida winter, with temps in the seventies and clear sunny days. We stayed with Dad and his fiancee Chris. Kendall took her time opening presents.

The next day we went hiking in the Loxahatchee wildlife refuge.

Those bumps in the water behind Kathryn aren’t just floating muck. Here’s a closer look.

Getting Kathryn to turn her back on a carnivorous dinosaur, even for a few seconds, is no easy trick.

We capped it off with breakfast at my sister’s place, decorating gingerbread houses with the nieces.

Good trip.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful

Only in that it’s already 62 degrees at 7:30 AM.

Merry Christmas!

I took the job.

I start January 7th.

I’m a geek again.

Ding!

I got a call from the owner. He’ll get me an offer letter on Monday or Tuesday. If we agree on terms, I start the first week in January.

I will be celebrating today by not job hunting all day.

For those of you playing at home…

Second interview went fine. Now waiting to see if they make an offer.

Looking up?

I had a positive interview this morning, and I have a callback tomorrow. Prayers, thoughts, and good vibes happily accepted.

Unsurprisingly, this lead was from a networking contact, not a job board or headhunter. Networking feels like a hassle until you really need it!

You’d better watch out…

In the blink of an eye…

The above pictures illustrate not necessarily bad timing on the part of the photographer, but that my daughter has LEARNED TO CLOSE HER EYES before the flash goes off. I am thankful for digital cameras tht show me that I need to try that shot again. And again. And again.

In other news, Uncle Bud thinks that my father is rigging things on the ceiling of the garage to fall on his car. But that is for another post.

I put on my robe and wizard hat…

  • I passed my Server+. Not sure which is next this week. I have an hourly gig tomorrow to fix some networking issues somewhere; the guys found my resume on a jobsite.
  • Christmas tree is up. Kathryn and I have ony had one christmas fight so far. That’s pretty good for us. I’m difficult around the holidays.
  • I’m singing in the choir for Advent. They wear robes and everything. To my chagrin, Kathryn packed the camera this morning.

Thanksgiving

This is what Kendall thought of the Thanksgiving meal. I am very thankful for her.
